About this deal

Skoda's real name is rumoured to be Jake, but Secret Weapon retcons this, saying that his birth name is Brian Smith.

POINT BLANK is an early outing for DELIVERANCE director John Boorman, who acquits himself ably with the hard-boiled crime format. Tough guy Lee Marvin stars in one of his most memorable roles as a small-time gangster who's double-crossed by his partner and his own wife! The prose was great. I never found anything awkward. It is clear that it's written for teenagers but that was to be expected, so nothing bad to say about that. Sofia Helin as Julia Rothman (season 3), an enigmatic, wealthy widow who is secretly a high ranking agent of the crime syndicate Scorpia. [4] [5] [6] a b c d Lang, Jamie (1 February 2021). " 'Alex Rider' Season 2 Casting Details Announced – Global Bulletin". Variety . Retrieved 7 February 2021.I enjoyed the fact that the book didn't plunge Alex straight into a conflict with an eccentric super-villain in his Alpine Aerie (although we definitely got there in the end, right down to the disposable guards and the 'Before-I-kill-let-me-share-the-details-of-my-evil-plan-for-world-domination monologuing from the uber-villain).

There are a couple of changes to the way characters look, as well: Point Blanc’s Miss Stellenbosch is described as looking hideously ugly in the book, and gadget-master Smithers is described as being very overweight – although, in later books, you find out he was wearing a fat suit. The TV version of Smithers is slim from the start, and Stellenbosch is arguably a very attractive person and something of a fashionista. Point Blanc stepped up one notch from Stormbreaker. Where in Stormbreaker Alex Rider started out being innocent and just a normal school boy, and ended up as a boy interested in spy work, in Point Blanc he changes so much more. I won't say how because it will spoil everything, but it is visible, and it I am looking very much forward to see how he will change over the course of the books. Point' is a little more ambiguous. What was first meant by 'point-blank range' was rather more precise than our current meaning. Then, as now, it meant 'too close to miss', but the specific meaning was 'within the distance that a missile travels in a direct line, with no perceptible drop due to gravity'. The 'point' in the term may have referred to the point of the arrow that was about to be fired - if the point coincided with the target in the archer's eyeline then the target would be hit, so long as it was within 'point-blank range'. Another interpretation is that 'point' was a verb and that 'point-blank' just meant 'pointing at the (blanc) target'. In July 2018, Variety reported that Eleventh Hour Films would be teaming up with Sony Pictures Television to produce an eight episode adaptation of Point Blanc, the second book in the Alex Rider series. Horowitz served as an executive producer on the series. Sony Pictures Television's international and worldwide distribution divisions under Wayne Garvie and Keith Le Goy were attached to the series. Sony was responsible for funding and looking for broadcasting or platform distributors. [1]His immense body of work also includes Marvel superheroes such as Daredevil and Shang-Chi, the Alex Rider graphic novels, the post-apocalypse epic Wasteland, and more. He wrote and directed the film Crossover Point, made entirely in quarantine during the coronavirus pandemic. In the Point Blanc book, Smithers approaches Alex on a combine harvester, to drop off some gadgets while the young spy is exploring the ample grounds of David Friend. The TV show, sadly, contains zero combine harvesters.

Earl Cave as James, [2] the Australian [8] heir to an arms industry corporation and a student at Point Blanc who befriends Alex. Once the week’s over, MI6 has Alex escorted to the school known as Point Blank. He must tell Dr Grief and other teachers about his supposedly bad behavior and why he’s at the school in the first place. MI6 doesn’t want the teachers knowing about his cover in case they’re implicated in the murders. Meanwhile, Alex must also make friends so that he can learn more about the boys and what’s going on at the school. The point is to identify any reason why fathers of these schoolboys are targeted. There’s a problem, however. No one’s comfortable talking. I'm hoping not to leave it a year until my next visit with Alex. He's the perfect distraction from a miserable world. Also, Greif/Grief is very much defined by his red glasses in the book, while the TV show version prefers a red waistcoat and lots of red lighting to highlight his evilness.

Synopsis: Teenage spy Alex Rider is sent on a mission to investigate Point Blanc, a finishing school for boys. Posing as the son of a rich business owner, Alex finds that the school is overly guarded, and most of his classmates seem to act exactly the same. Who could be behind this...and why?
