About this deal

The Emporia Gen 2 looks to be quite a decent bit of kit but I'm not impressed by their response in their FAQ about why their API is closed. Going to try get it working with three phase inputs some time soon, not sure how hard/easy that will be.

Absolutely no point is unfixable, but for what I thought would be a fairly easy plug and play setup, it's taken a heck of a lot more tinkering than I had expected when I set out, whereas everything I've put ESPhome on has been simpler than my expectations for effort needed, hence feeling attraction to the Emporia. You need 45mm on top for the USB and AC plugs, same on the bottom if you do direct reference three-phase. I tried everything I could think of to upload the required configuration but of course because of the lack of the required tool chain, that got me nowhere :(.We're ready to be a part of it with our smart charging features, ranging from solar optimisation to built-in energy management and payment options for public charging. Aesthetics don’t really matter much for a system that will spend most of its time behind a breaker box panel. When considering a new addition to manage your smart home more efficiently, Emporia may not be the first brand that comes to mind.

And organized things in a way that made unpacking just one box at a time during the installation easy to do. Pair the Emporia Vue with the Emporia Smart Home Energy Management system to automate your energy use and storage to meet your needs, comfort, and budget. About me: potential new user of Domoticz, just learned about it and reading this forum it seems a really great community. Emporia’s app isn’t as sophisticated as Sense’s, but its hardware does a better job of identifying where energy is consumed because it monitors the energy flowing over up to 16 individual circuits in addition to the mains power. Ideally I’d like the control to extend to a 3rd slave device which is only enabled when both primary fridge and chest freezer are off / standby and not drawing substantive current, and I’d like some time-based rules to only apply this master-slave control during certain hours of the day (or when mains power drops below a threshold), it just being able to master/slave two devices would be a great start.

This is done, in my case, on a Ubuntu machine that runs an Intel processor and has the required tool chains available. billt is right about the benefits of the more compact toroidal CTs if you're prepared to pop a few wires off the busbar (you can use circuit Neutrals) but without lots of tinkering you might not be able to make them work as plug-and-play with the Emporia.
